General College Information
College readiness requires a strategic approach built on different aspects of your high school life:
-
Course Selection: Balance your current schedule with rigorous classes (Advanced Placement [AP], Dual Credit, or Honors) while mapping out future courses that align with college prerequisites and your intended major.
-
Grade Point Average (GPA): Maintain a strong GPA, as it serves as a primary metric for admissions and a baseline requirement for academic scholarships.
-
Scholarship Planning: Track and apply for institutional, local, and national scholarships early to offset tuition costs, matching your achievements and background to specific criteria.
-
Future-Planning Mindset: Shift from a day-to-day student focus to a long-term goal orientation, proactively seeking out career exploration, mentorship, and college research. AVID is one way you can achieve your goals.
