Parent Access to Canvas Grades

How can I get online access to my student’s grades in Canvas LMS?
Go to https://ccsd.instructure.com/login/ldap and click on Parent Login. Then follow the link to create a parent account. Students may need to add their parent/guardian as an observer in their settings. For directions, please view How do I generate a pairing code for an observer as a student?

Can my student really show me a “fake” gradebook from Canvas LMS?
Students do have an option to use the “What-if” feature of the Canvas LMS gradebook that allows them to calculate their total grade by entering hypothetical grades for all assignments. To ensure that your student is not showing you a “What-If” gradebook, we suggest parents create a Canvas LMS Parent Account.

Canvas Gradebook vs. Infinite Campus Gradebook

Why don’t the two gradebooks always match?
Teachers enter grades into the Canvas gradebook. Infinite Campus receives the scores from Canvas in an electronic communication known as a passback once a day, usually late in the evening. As a result, Infinite Campus grades may not reflect the most recent grading updates. The Canvas and Infinite Campus gradebooks will match when they are finalized at the end of the grading period. The Infinite Campus gradebook is the official gradebook of record.

Which gradebook has the most current grades?
Canvas has the most up-to-date grades. Infinite Campus takes 24-48 to sync with Canvas. Students may submit auto-graded assignments 24/7 in Canvas, and teachers also manually enter grades in Canvas.

Which gradebook shows attendance records?
Infinite Campus displays a student's attendance.

How do I know which assignments are missing or not submitted?
Assignments that are missing or not submitted will appear in the gradebook as MISSING and will show a score of 0%. (CCSD Policy)
